From What Cloth Are You Cut?

A conversation over on my Instagram page a few days ago went a little something like this:

“Girl, you and I are cut from the same cloth.”

“It’s a sturdy piece of canvas with a fun pattern on it!”

Oh, my heart. YES! I AM a sturdy piece of canvas. I’m undaunted in the rain, handling dirt with ease. I shelter what needs a cover and protect the contents underneath.

I imagine that my canvas would have a simple yet elegant pattern adorned by small details that you must look closely to see.

One of the first questions I ask new clients is, “Who are you?” “What are you about?” My job as a photographer and website designer is to tell the world who you are.

You would be surprised at how many people cannot describe themselves or their brand. Maybe one of those people is you?

So before you go trying to design websites, post online every day, go live, and basically rule the world, take a step back and answer the question: What cloth am I cut from?

Start by listing as many adjectives as you can about your brand, then go back and circle three that you feel describe you best.

For me: I’m tough, nurturing, and highly specialized.

Now tell me what you do for others. You can list your products, but let’s talk about how you help them with your products.

For me: I help entrepreneurs to be SEEN and HEARD. I give them a voice. I help them to project their message into the world.

Reference these descriptions often, and they will help you to spread your message and stay consistent.

I would love for you to send me your descriptions! Please send them to me over on IG: @lindsey_oaks.
